Guy Thallon is responsible for Strategic Business Development within the Crop Health programme at Fera Science, a role which connects the commercial understanding of industry needs and challenges with the broad and deep capabilities of our science. Guy has a background in on-farm innovation, working at the interface between science and application. He trained in soil science at Cranfield University before joining the fresh produce industry in 2010 as a KTP associate leading a R&D project between Cranfield University and Produce World before joining Produce World full time in 2013 as Head of Research Development and Innovation. In 2016 Guy joined Farmcare Trading as Science Manager across working with a range of farm systems and leading the establishment of a long term innovation programme before joining Fera in 2018. In his first year with Fera, Guy has led the launch of the Big Soil Community, a deep dive into the complex world of soil biology and a novel commercial approach to understanding how biological communities differ with different farming systems. In the first year of the Big Soil Community over 200 samples were analysed for bacteria and fungi from samples.
