Dr Debbie Rees

Researcher on handling and storage of perishable produce, Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich

Debbie is a researcher working at the Produce Quality Centre which is run by the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich. She has managed projects and carried out research for more than 25 years on the maintenance of quality and reduction of waste within food supply chains in the UK and overseas. Her main areas of research include developing and evaluating new technologies such as Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere storage of top fruit using respiratory characteristics, ethylene management, ozone for decontamination, chlorophyll fluorescence for monitoring produce quality, sprout control in potato, varietal evaluation and storage of yams and sweet potato.
